Longboard Masters

Launched in 2010 and now an iconic event in Monta, the Longboard Masters bring the sunshine back in September! Surfers gather on the south beach to ride the waves and put on a magnificent show for us. Every two years, enthusiasts from all over France come together to enjoy a weekend with their feet in the sand in a cool, relaxed atmosphere.

#longboard The Californian vibe

When autumn arrives, wave lovers gather on our southern beach for a festive and friendly event that celebrates the spirit of surfing! A surf village springs up and the atmosphere is buzzing with the spirit ofa beach party.

Even though the famous blue huts are no longer there, the Californian influence lives on thanks to a longboard exhibition where you can discover magnificent boards from California, Hawaii, Australia and, of course, France.

You’ll also find local artists exhibiting their creations inspired by the ocean and nature – values we share with surfers! Beautiful books on the sport are also on display, so you can take home some memories of these days.

A nod to Monta Car Old School with vintage vehicles before rounding off the day in style with drinks as the sun sets over the sea, accompanied by live music!

And, of course, there’s a longboard competition over the weekend for masters aged 40 to over 60.

And here’s an exclusive: rumour has it that every year there’s a longboard to be won in the raffle!

A unique atmosphere which brings together

More than just a competition, it’s above all a celebration and a family get-together! Seasoned surfers, amateurs and mere admirers all gather on the South Beach to share a warm and friendly moment! There’s no age limit for surfing, as this event proves! We love watching the pros dance on their boards to the rhythm of the waves – it’s a real spectacle. Many spectators come to the Longboard Masters to watch the show and soak up the vintage, 70s vibe that permeates the whole resort! Tucked away in the north of the Médoc, Montalivet has managed to retain this retro, relaxed and almost carefree atmosphere, where time seems to have stood still, slowing down the frantic pace of everyday life!

Montalivet and surfing share a long-standing love affair dating back to the 1960s
