There are no public toilets open on the resort, and not a single tap to fill a gourd or water bottle... Dogs are allowed bowls everywhere, but not humans.

Beautiful beaches, but that's it. There are no museums in the area. The tourist office told me that there are 2 museums in the area, archaeology and costume.

Cycling "loops" beware of danger. Signs and leaflets invite you to get on your bike for tours that the colors qualify as family, beginner, etc.. In particular, the one that seems to go around Vendayes. Two days, two scouting attempts and twice a mountain bike outing (other bikes impossible) aborted by a break in the signposting. It's obvious that we're printing out paper, but no one has seen fit to check the route(s). Imagine that on the slopes! Is the tourist office liable on the day of an accident? So when it comes to signposted cycling, especially mountain biking, Hourtin is the place to be, even if you have to use the bike rack to get there.
