Are dogs allowed on the beaches?

From 1 April to 30 November each year, dogs are strictly prohibited from the town’s main beach (between the two sea walls), even if kept on a lead, with the exception of guide dogs for the blind.

What do the flags mean?

Green flag: swimming is supervised and there is no apparent danger. Yellow flag: swimming is supervised, with limited or significant danger. Red flag: swimming is prohibited. Red and yellow flags: supervised swimming area on the beach Purple flag: indicates water pollution or the presence of dangerous aquatic species Black and white chequered flag: water sports area where swimming is risky but permitted.

Montalivet is a family-friendly resort where life is good! When the warmer weather arrives, the Avenue de l’Océan becomes a pedestrianised zone to ensure your safety.

On the beaches, lifeguards are on duty from April to October to keep an eye on swimmers , so you can enjoy the ocean to the full throughout the season. All you have to do is relax and enjoy yourself!

To enjoy the sea safely, it is essential to be able to distinguish clearly between the different flags used by lifeguards.

There’s a wide range of sporting activities on offer! Held right on the beach during the summer, it’s the perfect way to enjoy the sea with family or friends!

Dancing, Pilates, fitness classes, volleyball, tennis… you’re bound to find something to suit you, whether on the beach or elsewhere! All activities are free and open to everyone.
